User Guide

Everything you need to use QuizWillo.

Covers Phase 2 — Vocabulary Studio (Beta) + live hosting update. Last updated 2026-11-04.

1. Create your creator account

  1. Choose Sign up and register with your email. You can also use Continue with Google.
  2. Confirm your email, then sign in. Your dashboard opens.
  3. Set your display name in Settings. Participants never need an account; separate learner accounts are not available yet.

3. Build a quiz

  1. Go to Create Quiz (or My Quizzes) and give the quiz a title.
  2. Add a question and choose its type from the picture cards: single choice, multiple choice, true/false, short answer, number, slider, put in order, match pairs or poll.
  3. Polls are unscored and show the audience's votes in a live quiz.
  4. Mark the correct answer(s), set the timer and points, and optionally add an image and explanation.
  5. Use Preview to try every question as players will see it, then Save.

4. Import quizzes from Excel or CSV

  1. Open Import Excel and download the template.
  2. Fill one row per question and upload the file.
  3. Fix any highlighted rows, then import. You can export a quiz back to Excel at any time.

5. Host a live game

  1. Publish your quiz first. Drafts and archived quizzes can't be hosted; the Host Live screen tells you why.
  2. On My Quizzes, press Host Live on a published quiz card, use the Host Live button that appears after publishing in the editor, or pick a published quiz under Live Sessions → Host New Game.
  3. Name the session, set the participant limit and press Create Lobby.
  4. The host lobby shows the Game PIN and a QR code. Share your screen, copy the join link or download the QR code.
  5. Open Projector view on a big screen. It keeps the QR code and PIN in the corner during the game so latecomers can join when late joining is on.

6. How participants join

  1. Guest join without login: scan the QR code, or open the site's /join page and type the six-digit PIN.
  2. Complete the quick security check if one appears, then pick a nickname and avatar. Players never sign up or sign in.
  3. Players wait in the lobby until the host starts. Refreshing the page on the same phone reconnects them.
  4. The QR code, copied link and projector link always point to https://quizwello.space/join, so guests never need an account. If the lobby screen shows a warning, host from quizwello.space instead.

7. Run the game

  1. Press Start Game. The server controls every timer.
  2. Use Pause, Resume, Reveal, Skip and Next. Skipped questions give no points and don't break streaks.
  3. Show the leaderboard between questions; the podium appears at the end.

8. Results and exports

  1. Open Results to see your finished sessions.
  2. Each report shows rankings, accuracy per question and answer breakdowns.
  3. Download a report as Excel or CSV.

9. Vocabulary Studio Beta

  1. Open Vocabulary Studio from the dashboard menu or the Activity Gallery. Anyone can try the sample at Vocabulary sample (footer) without an account; it clears when the tab closes.
  2. Beta: your sets and review history are saved in this browser only. They are not linked to your account, don't appear on other devices, and are lost if you clear browser data. Use Export CSV for a backup and don't store confidential information.
  3. Create a set, rename it, set source/target languages, duplicate or delete it. Add, edit, reorder or remove entries: term and definition are required; example, tags, notes and other accepted answers are optional.
  4. Import by pasting from a spreadsheet or uploading a .csv/.tsv file with columns term, definition, example, tags, alternatives, notes. Duplicates are skipped and problem rows are listed. For .xlsx files, save as CSV first.
  5. Study with Flashcards (tap or Space to flip, rate Again/Hard/Good/Easy with 1–4, shuffle or reverse), Match (pair terms with meanings) or Type answer (capital letters ignored, accents count).
  6. Spaced review: Again = today, then 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days as you rate Good (Easy jumps two steps, Hard stays). Due today, New, Mastered (14-day step or more) and Difficult are shown per set. Mastered means a long interval, not a guarantee.

10. Clue Cards Beta

  1. Open Clue Cards from the dashboard menu. Try the sample to see how it plays.
  2. Create a set: each card has an answer, optional other accepted answers, 2–6 clues from hardest to easiest, and an explanation.
  3. Players reveal clues one by one. A correct answer after the first clue earns 1,000 points; each extra clue lowers it (minimum 100). Wrong answers and skips earn 0. Capital letters and extra spaces are ignored.
  4. Beta: self-paced play only, saved in this browser only. Live hosting with a PIN, images and AI-written clues are not available yet.

11. Coming soon Coming Soon

  1. Study & Practice, Clue Cards, Interactive Lessons and Workplace Training are planned but not available.
  2. Optional learner accounts and syncing vocabulary across devices are not available yet.

12. Tips

  1. Test with a second phone before a real event.
  2. On shared Wi-Fi with many players, allow extra time for everyone to join.
  3. Projector view works best in fullscreen.
